We’ve released a series of free updates to try to give Portia the polish we always wanted it to have, but unfortunately, we’re very limited by some of the coding decisions we made early in development, and we haven’t been able to do what we want to do, nor what the fans have wanted us to do. Portia was coded by a team under a lot of pressure to deliver in a short time, so shortcuts were taken that have made things difficult for us to expand upon Portia at present. What happens, happens. What is the difference between Sandrock from Portia? What you can expect to see is a game with a similar vision, made by a much more experienced dev team, with a much greater potential for expansion. It's pointless to worry about things we can't do anything about. I take the lack of news as them still trying to meet the end of year deadline for co-op EA release but due to situation being out of their control, it's entirely possible co-op release may have to be delayed to early next year from current by the end of year plan. Panthea has invested lot on it and development is quite far along already. I adore these games but don't have nearly as much time to play them now and coop not only makes things more fun but the in-game "work load" feels less tedious.Įverything has gone fine with the multiplayer development (outside the things out of their control in China) so I don't see why you'd think there is even an off-change of co-op being dropped at this point. But if it gets dropped for whatever reason, I am not sure I will put in as many hours as I did with Portia. You can google the roadmap any time you want to get this information. There has already been two MP beta tests done. If you follow the road map, they were very clear about the multiplayer path. Please see this video for more information as well as an apology, since it’s come to our attention that some players expected multiplayer mode to be available upon Early Access launch, an expectation that was not met. If the results of the two playtests are positive, we'll add multiplayer mode to Early Access around the end of this year. We'll hold another global time-limited multiplayer playtest with all Early Access players around October 2022.ģrd. We're aiming to start a global time-limited multiplayer playtest with all Early Access players around the end of August or early September 2022.Ģnd. Please note that dates may be adjusted if we find the results of the multiplayer playtests unsatisfactory so that we may continue to improve it. Here is the tentative roadmap for multiplayer mode. Many other core features are still in progress as well, such as marriage and children, more NPC-specific stories and dialogue, and more. The launch version of My Time at Sandrock contains only the singleplayer story, while multiplayer mode will be added later, since it’s still too early in development for it to be shared with the world quite yet. Thank you to all Builders for a delightfully strong Early Access launch yesterday! They made it very clear in multiple places that it wasn't going to be multiplayer at early access release.
